Becon'Bank was a mobile banking platform for banks and microfinance institutions (MFIs). Secure and easy to use, available on the web and as a mobile app, it connected to the institution’s information system and supported cash-in / cash-out operations through mobile money.

A product designed and launched by IniMov, now discontinued. We present it here as a demonstration of our ability to build complex platforms end to end.

What matters

Tested and approved by 5 microfinance institutions.

Context and challenges

  • Mobile and digital banking was not yet well established in Africa.
  • The arrival of large players, notably telecom operators, threatened MFIs, the historic players in the market.
  • Problems to solve: remote deposits and withdrawals, relieving queues at counters, enriching the user experience, shortening time-to-market for mobile offers.

Our approach

  • Design and validation of the idea and value proposition.
  • Field visits to MFIs in Yaoundé and Douala to identify common problems.
  • Internal and external Design Thinking sessions to build several solutions.
  • Presentation and validation with MFIs (MVP), then Agile prototype development with a demo every two weeks.
